A very common element in the pregnancy phase experienced by all woman is the mood swings and a sudden urge for having food. The choice of the food depends on time to time. It is mainly due to the increased hormonal activity which is causing the mood swings and also the increased metabolic activity as the food taken by the mother gets digested in a very fast time creating the urge to eat more. In these times, food like the coffee and the chocolate during pregnancy makes a mother very happy. The sole reason behind it is that they help in relaxing the nerve fibers in the body so that they also feel less stressful. On the other hand, these food elements also relieve the woman of the constant pain caused by the labor condition.

The effect of coffee on Pregnancy
Coffee is that drink that is loved by each and every individual and it can be taken by almost all the age group peoples. It contains caffeine as its active compound and they are very much effective in relaxing the nerve fibers of the body. Therefore it acts acts a stimulant. Although the use of caffeine during pregnancy is not very much recommended as its effects are not properly known. Generally, the doctors prescribe to limit the consumption to maximum 2 to 3 cups in a day for a woman in their gestation or in their breast feeding phase. The main reason is that it stimulates the shooting of the blood pressure and the heart rate resulting in the increase in the urine formation. Moreover, the caffeine is also able to set the trans-placental journey. Thus it might harm the fetus also.

The effect of the chocolate on Pregnancy
After coffee, chocolate is another element which comes in everybody’s favorites list.  It also contains caffeine in its constitution. However, less than that of the coffee. Chocolate is very good for a pregnant mother as they help to reduce the chances of preeclampsia. However, overeating chocolates can be harmful. They are very high calorie in nature. So over eating chocolates will definitely add more weight to the mother. On the other hand, chocolates help in removing a person’s appetite. So the mother will not be able to eat other important food, which is actually needed for her body and also for her baby.

Limiting the consumption
With both the chocolates and the coffee, consumption should be in a limiting manner. For chocolates, a potent alternative is present, which will reduce the amount of caffeine. The alternative is the consumption of the milk-chocolates. However, the problem of the calorie remains as it is. In fact, in place of coffee, tea will be a better option if taken in a controlled way.

Taking Food in a balanced way
Using coffee and chocolate while pregnant is not at all forbidden, however, one thing should be kept in mind that food during this time should be taken following a proper diet chart. Thus, it will help keep the mother and the baby healthy.
