If
you could glance on to your uterus this is something that you might have not
even expected in the wildest of your dreams. The unborn baby is covered with
brown fluffy hair.
The
reasons for the baby becoming fuzzy?
The
process of labor tends to emerge at around 14 to 16 weeks of pregnancy. Once
you touch 21 weeks, the entire body of the baby is covered with hair. The lips,
feet and the soles are the only bare spots where hair is not found. This is also referred to as monkey hair and
for a lot of parents it is still a mystery on what is lanugo and what happens to it during pregnancy. Now what
makes your baby more fussy?
During
pregnancy the baby is known to float in an amniotic sac. For example if you
have watched the toes and feet wrinkled after bath, what is going to strike you
is why is the skin of the baby by constant immersion in liquid is not damaged.
The reason of it is that being covered by a substance known as vertex where a
cheesy coating is provided over the skin. Just imagine a situation where your
body is covered with petroleum jelly and a coating of cheese, so how it is
going to feel. What is lanugo hair
does provide something for the cervix to cling to, so that the coating remains
on the skin of the baby and protection is provided.
Lanugo
could work its magic as a form of insulation. The skin of your baby is pretty
during pregnancy as one of the last things to develop is body fat. The warmth
of the body keeps the snug. With the help of lanugo the body temperature of
your fetus is regulated. When you do come across situations of severe
malnutrition, adults are also prone to lanugo, as without the aid of fat the
body is trying to work towards warmth.
You
are never going to come across a person in lanugo. The fine hair that is
present is going to fade itself in the last few months of pregnancy. The baby
could swallow it in the womb or it could turn into meconium which is the first
sickly black poop of your baby as soon as they are born.
The
baby is born and still there is lanugo
If
it is a premature baby or if the delivery has happened a few days before the
due date then the baby is going to have a fair coating of lanugo. In certain
situations, babies who are born full term still have some remaining monkey hair
on them.
